Increasingly, progressive design teams are utilizing 3D Energy and Daylight Modeling as a component of a building science approach to design. However, Energy Modeling is often used incorrectly or at the wrong time, hindering the overall value of the tool.
This presentation will focus on best practices for Energy and Daylight Modeling and how these Models can be used to better equip design teams with data for a more informed decision making process in the course of design. Our presenters, Green Ideas High-Performance Building Consultants, will introduce an iterative approach to 3D Modeling which provides true building science approach for project teams, while keeping pace with stringent design timelines and budgets. He is responsible for business development, marketing, educational programs, technical consulting and operations at Green Ideas. Charlie has worked on a wide range of both commercial and residential projects utilizing his expertise with green building products, applications and installation techniques. |John Cribbs is a Principal at Green Ideas and is responsible for technical consulting, project management and modeling services. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with multiple specialties and has intricate knowledge of the recently released LEED v4 Rating System. John has a heavy background in Building Information Modeling (BIM) from both a design and construction standpoint and has presented modeling and BIM related research on the national stage. John earned his Bachelors degree in Environmental Design, with an emphasis in Architecture, from the University of Colorado at Boulder, then went on to receive his Masters Degree in Architecture from Arizona State University, before completing his Construction Management PhD at ASU.
